I don't have an exact bug to post but my impression over the last few beta versions is, that XMP has become a bit unstable. Almost every time when I try to add some directories...

This is probably the same thing that Dotpitch reported. There was a bug introduced in one of the recent "in development" updates - it was freeing some memory twice Embarrassed

Let me know if you still have stability problems with the latest update posted above.

not sure whether it's a new bug, not even sure whether it's bug at all... Undecided
with the shortcuts, some keycombinations on my laptop result in the same action:
Ctrl+Fn+M (that is Ctrl+NUM 0) gives the same as Ctrl+Ins. same goes for Ctrl+Fn+. (Ctrl+NUM DECIMAL). probably it's a keyboard thing, but xmplay detects them as different when assigning shortcuts (they've got different names), and the function which is lower in the shortcuts-list doesn't work any more.

XMPlay freezes every 2-3 seconds while streaming MP3 files via home network. The same doesn't happen with other formats and XMPlay plays them just fine. MP3s are being streamed from Win98SE to WinXP SP2 and when they are being streamed the other way round there are no freezings. I disabled firewall for testing.

EDIT: OK, I know it might look like some network issue but then again what about Winamp and VLC streaming mp3 audio all right?

'Refresh dead tracks' doesn't work when files were deleted from RAR/ZIP/... archive.

There are myriad networking issues with 9x and XP.  Perhaps those programs just have deeper buffers.  All XP network here (six XP / SP2 machines with one acting as the server) and no streaming issues even when multiple machines are streaming from the server (an intel-based HP NetServer NIC is a wonderful thing).  I also NEVER use that retroactive abortion known as the XP firewall - that's just junk.

In short, I don't think it's a XMPlay issue.

If you're not using NetBEUI, then try installing that (under WinXP it's hidden in the valueadd folder on the cd), and then unbind file sharing from TCP on the 98 box. You should find that transferring files is a lot faster.

A combined bug report from me and my gf, concerning the CD audio plugin. Well, here's what the better half has to say:

Quote from: Lotta
When I tried to play my cd with xmplay, it went down like hundred times, and when it finally stayed on, it went all the song right trough like prrrrrrrr in a second, and just like that all of them were covered with that red line

I've narrowed down the problem a bit. It seems XMPlay crashes every time when trying to open the whole CD like when double clicking the CD drive icon or dragging it into the playlist. There's no problems when opening tracks or a group of tracks or even all of them. It just has to be done by either browsing the CD and selecting all the tracks and dragging them into the playlist or opening them through XMPlay. This is happening on both our boxes, the 98SE and XPSP2 one.

It'd be pretty slow to scan inside archives for missing tracks, so XMPlay just checks that the archive exists. The missing tracks will be marked dead when you try to play them.

No such problems here. Does it happen every time, with every CD? Of course, you are using the latest XMPlay and CD plugin?

Btw, is it actually crashing, or is that just a figure of speech? Smiley ... If it is crashing, please provide details, eg. a drwtsn32.log.

I noticed, that XMPlay hangs, when it's reading through dead tracks and you press stop in the middle (to cancel the process). At this point it will have to be closed via Task Manager.

Is that after pressing play with a list full of dead tracks? There doesn't seem to be a problem with that here, eg. with list looping enabled I can press stop to stop XMPlay cycling through them. Do the dead tracks have to be a certain type and/or does there have to be a certain number of them?

Ah, it seems like it's actually a problem with in_mp3 plugin, that I use for occasional tag editing. I guess it can't be helped then.. not a big deal though.

First it stopped happening on the 98 machine, and now the XP one is fine too. Smiley It WAS definately crashing though and I caught it with Dr. Watson. It seems redownloading fixed it although there seemed to be no difference between the files, atleast not in file size. I'll get back to you if the crash reappears. I have my suspicions because it was around for quite some time. (And yes, I was a lazy little bug reporter.)

OK, NetBUI works great and I can indeed share files a lot faster (thanks!). Unfortunately, XMPlay still freezes every few seconds while streaming MP3 files. And, as I said before, the same doesn't happen with other formats (huge WAV files, for instance).

Nope. Only with mp3 files.

Doesn't matter. I reinstalled XP and everything is all right now... What could it be?

There do not seem to be any hotkey entries for toggling topmost mode.  What happened to it/them?   Huh

The "on top" shortcut was removed when the separate normal and mini-mode settings were added. I've put it back in...

Will the .0.8 build have support for CD-Text built intot he CD Player plugin?  And if so (and even if not), how far are we away from  it?

I'll be looking through the "wishlist" thread and starting work on 3.3 soon, so I'm not sure there'll be a 3.2.8 release. The CD-Text support will be in 3.3
