The volume is rising as soon as you start my program, I don't want it to happen and I don't want the user chose the volume either. :-/
Basically I just want the volume to adjust its volume to the ordinary Windows (XP) volume...
How do I do this?

You need to use the BASS_DEVICE_LEAVEVOL flag when you call BASS_Init.
