Where are all the graphic artists gone? There has been no new skin in ... ages... I'm not criticizing, just wondering! And no I couldn't create a skin to save my life

Don't worry we've got some nice shiny plans to get those skinners back to... uh... skinning. Will be more news posted about that when 3.3 gets let out of the bag.

For the very few (4-5) but very devout Miniskin users (you know who you are), I'm holding off v3 of my research into the unobtrusive, tiny and uncluttered interface (I don't want to use such hackneyed and stigmatized words like 'hardcore', 'streamlined' and 'minimalistic' because they're silly and meaningless) until I can make something close to what I envision less of a new skin, more of a new UI. Looking forward to seeing some news on this front.

cerealkiller - that's certainly a preferable colour scheme from my point of view; goes much better with my steel & green desktop. I look forward to the finished version. Many thanks.

If anyone remembers there was this great skin called TOPAZAMP for WinAMP back in 1999. To this date it remained my favourite skin so i made a few adjustments for xmp, and it look something like this... It's still not finished, but in a few (3-4) days...

Maybe you sholud change LCD display for much "real". I think only the info rows need adjusting. They seem a bit cramped ATM. How is the left alignment more realistic? And I, for one, know which player I'm using. No need to waste space on that.

Btw, where was the tutorial site? I remember it was quite informative when I first tried out skinning. Definately earns its place among my XMPlay bookmarks.

At the risk of sounding boring:
I have a 17" screen to use xmplay with any of the current skins you would need to use a needle or a toothpick. How about a "large" skin , or an "XP classic" type skin. I'm not going to use it until then (I'd love to , but it's too difficult)

There are a few skins you might like. On the support site is SilverXP (based on the Silver XP theme), a large version of the 2.x skin, and some other large skins like Graphite and X-RD2506 (think that's spelt right).

I have a 22" @ 1600x1200 and a 17" @ 1152x864 now, that is why I can't use all of the smaller skins, either. My next skin is going to be bigger, as well - you've seen the screenshots (In case you haven't: Look here.)

I want more normal, oldschool skins. No playlisto-players, no playersogadgets for 3/4 of desktop. I know - I have mini mode (with minimal or zero options). Maybe somebody will make in the future another usable skin like 'Plastic'. This is one and only one good skin for XMPlay for now.

By oldschool you mean the Winamp look? I dunno, Plastic for me is way too big and it's got one of those weird panel thingies sticking out of the other side.

By oldschool you mean the Winamp look? Yes, of course. All old and good players was "like winamp". Especially with "panel thingies sticking out of the side". Plastic is big? Lets take a look, maybe MMD3, Exile, eXtreMe, Lightwave or Vintage is smaller?

The only one of those I have installed is Vintage, though. When skins were a new thing I was for some reason fond of round designs like the Spherical or Oone. The skins I've actually used for a longer period are the Flatline, the Miniskins, the Bonjour BS2000's, the Shades and the Silks.

Winamp = oldschool <LOL>? My idea of oldschool would be the Windows __3.x__ media player -:) Winamp was one of the first programs that my first reaction to the interface was <puke>, due to it's modernized look to it.

Windows Media Player? That's like no-school, or was the .wav/.mid scene especially hot in your particular area? These two clunky things are roughly the oldskool equivalent of XMPlay: The shots aren't as authetic as they could be, though. You can see by the window title bars that these babies are running in at least Win95. I guess keyboard operated DOS textmode players cannot really be compared here since we're on a Gooey (GUI) but what about Visual Player?

Windows 3.x? Maybe we sholud look for good examples. Lets take a look for OS from the real computer: http://www.dfmk.hu/~torokl/3ivXAmiga.png

Windows Media Player? That's like no-school, or was the .wav/.mid scene especially hot in your particular area? Hehe, the Windows 3.x Media Player could play any media file that you had the MCI drivers installed for, just like the Windows 9x (+) media players can  -:) These two clunky things are roughly the oldskool equivalent of XMPlay: Oh man, that brings back fond memories... WinPlay3 and Mod3Win! I used to use 'em both! -:) I guess keyboard operated DOS textmode players cannot really be compared here since we're on a Gooey (GUI) but what about Visual Player?
How about the old DOS Cubic Player? I used that one extensively, as it supported loading the Tracker samples into my onboard AWE32's RAM, allowing one to use the EMU effects when playing back music -:)
