I'm using the 3D Spectrum and no DSPs. However, with a clean install, this does not happen I'll investigate further...

Hm... Seems like it was the xmp-scrobbler's fault. I wonder what has changed, though, as I was able to play that midi before.

But did the file still exist? The exact bug you are describing happens if the cache file somehow gets corrupted and goes away when the file is deleted.

no, as said, it was empty and deleting it doesn't help either. After restarting xmplay and playing that tune, it isn't even recreated.

1) The colour of the lyrics depend on the skin.
2) SGM-180 is a very nice free soundfont.

Which also means you can change the color in a particular skin by downloading the skin source and editing the skinconfig.txt and using the source folder as a skin.

Use sfArk to decompress the file. There's another similar utility called SFPack, if you ever happen to run into SoundFonts compressed with that.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. But. I realized that the MIDI plugin is extremely small, fast and efficient. Would be possible to include a MIDI port input? I think it would be a really good choice as a softsynth, getting MIDI from other programs. I have been trying with alternatives like sfz or SynthSoft, but their performance is far behind. Thanks and regards,
Diego

This is something that I think I've suggested before as well (a standard 'global' Windows MIDI driver based upon XMPlay and the MIDI plugin), and I think it would be EXCELLENT! Ian, you could even make this a shareware/paid type of thing... I know a lot of folks who would be interested in it. XMPlay's MIDI playback (with a decent SoundFont) dwarfs any other softsynth that I ever heard throughout the years

I don't really see that as being an XMPlay plugin sort of thing (or any player plugin for that matter ), but perhaps someone could create such a thing as a standalone app with BASS+BASSMIDI (which uses the same MIDI engine).

I seriously think that you could make a nice profit from this, as (I said above) the sound of the MIDI plugin dwarfs all of the other softsynths without a doubt

...XMPlay's MIDI playback (with a decent SoundFont) dwarfs any other softsynth that I ever heard throughout the years I agree! XMPlay's midi plugin is outstanding and outperforms other mainstream players I've tried on my less-than-state-of-the-art Windows 2000 computer. Obviously, with computers/players able to use VST instruments (and having more complexity), one can get better sound. Many of us are more than happy though with this amazing plugin! I have also at times wanted the ability to select an input source somehow, similar to vanBesco's Karaoke Player ability.

Hehe, not that I have any more 'sway' than anyone else <G>, I've been an 'AWE-32 man' for about a decade and a half now... and the sound of XMPlay's MIDI plugin (with a decent SoundFont) comes closer to REAL EMU8000/EMU10K hardware than any other softsynth that I've ever heard After Ian initially released this thing, the first thing that went through my mind was: "Where the heck was this thing, back in the day where 14.4bps dialup connections were the norm, MP3 encoding was completely UNHEARD of, CD writers were either not in the retail market yet or WWAAAYYY too many $$$ for the average consumer, and the *ONLY* way that I could distribute my 'masterpieces' was to create an EXTREMELY crappy low-quality WAV file (mono/8-bit/8192 sampling rate) and email it to them!" <LOL>! Anyhow, a global Windows MIDI driver would be phenominal

I think you're overestimating the size of the market here. MIDI enthusiasts (as in people actively listening to MIDI files) are few and far between these days.
As for the 14.4 kbps era... few would've had the HDD space to sacrifice on a 30-100 MB soundfont.
