Album (Cover) Art for XMPlay

Is there a visualization (or plug-in) to display Album Art? I would like something just like XMLyrics, except it could pull up a jpg (or other format) file. I use ogg vorbis files and have looked at the tags, but can't find a field for album/cover art.

I think it's a philosophy thing but people around here like the lean'n'mean non-bloat machine that is XMPlay and same goes for the music files. Binary data in music tags is bloat and it's no wonder Ogg doesn't support it.

Yup, ogg has no support for that. Well, you could make an ALBUMART-tag and store the JPEG in HEX and hope to find a program that can read that. XMPlay doesn't support it, cause it's a music player, not a jukebox. A vis similar to XMLyrics could do the job with external JPEGs, but as far as I know, it hasn't been made yet.

OK. Thanks for the replies. Not a big issue, but I do like the visualization with quintessential player. I have a big collection and it is nifty to glance up and see whats playing. I agree that I like the lean and meanness that is XMPlay. It is also the only one of my players that I have gotten to play AAC+ shoutcast streams. The stream recording is also awesome. Now if someone will just share their Irremote.ini XMP section, I will crawl back into my hole. Also, I am not sure how adding one more text field into the ogg tag adds significant bloat. You could include a pointer to a local file or a URL. Quintessential and other players know how to deal with those. That is what I was looking for. Thanks again.

Well sure you can add whatever tags to Ogg, I thought you meant like how ID3v2 does it.

I use all .oggs too, but I have album art stored in everyone one of my music folders. It would be nice if there were some way to display it during playback.

This I'm not opposed to at all. Actually, I remember looking into it and seem to remember you can subsitute the images the Liquid plugin uses very easily but I'm not sure do the changes reflect whilst running XMPlay. A native plugin could do the searching for the image and copy it to Liquid's directory to be used.

Yes, something like that would be very nice.

The way the plug-in for Quintessential works is by filename. So, if I play playlist Train - My Private Nation.m3u and have a file Train - My Private Nation.jpg, it will automagically display it. That is basically the same thing I do for my .lrc files for XMLyrics.

All my album art is named "cover" because that's what it needs to be in order for Rockbox on my mp3 player to display it. Is there any way to display that in xmplay?

I should have said that is one of the ways Quintessential works. It has several ways that you can select. One is to auto search and display from the web.

I know this is old story, but...
JPG, JPEG, JFIF, GIF, PNG and WEBP are known raster image file formats. I'm looking for one up-to-date plugin that displays cover art/thumbnail.
