The compiled skin updates are now up on the XMPlay page.

1. Change the year in the phrase "XMPlay Support is © 2006 by Rah'Dick & Keltic Danor" on the bottom of the support page and in the "copyright © 2003-2006 un4seen developments. all rights reserved." phrase on the un4seen site to 2007

2. Is it possible to create multilingual support site based on the actual one? I could help with the translation of the materials to the Russian.

That's not how copyright works, Auren. The date of copyright is the date of first publication, followed by the date(s) of any major revisions, if any. ("Major" meaning: it could be seen as a separate work; in the case of a website, this could mean a total overhaul of site look/function.)

Thanks for detailed explanation :) But XMPlay changed its version to 3.4 in 2007, isn't it? Isn't this a major revision?

That's true, but it has nothing to do with the copyright of the website ::).

Hi Rah'Dick,
Please can you add my Sxmp plugin for X-chat to your "Other Add-ons" section?
You can see my plugin here http://www.tearsinrain.it/

Thanks

I will, eventually... I'm sorry, but I'm pretty busy with my diploma thesis right now. I barely have time for my girlfriend. :( I'm afraid the situation will stay like this for another 2-3 months, when I'm finished.

Hey thanks for the plug-in.  Good luck with your thesis ... just a request if you could update the scrobbler to also upload XMPlay's history from the library ... many thanks

I think you wanted to write your post in xmp-scrobbler thread :-)

Anyway, uploading history may be problematic, because Last.fm server doesn't allow submitting anything with timestamp older than the last successfully submitted track.

Don't tell iSproggler that. They seem to be able to get around it. ;)

I just checked the changelog on the protocol you posted in the plugin thread, and I guess this would be the relevant entry:

Documentation changed to indicate relaxation of spam checking to better support portable media players.

It's possible, but I remember that when I started xmp-scrobbler development I once got a lot of these "spam trigger" messages because my code submitted several songs in short time period. I don't know how this relates to being able to submit tracks "from the past", but I'll definitely check that out soon.

My list of suggested Support Site improvements:
  • First start and Output options panel: some new screenshots (because of the larger eaqualizer).
  • Informational section: 'double-click to make any visual go full-screen'.
  • Understanding the options: new pages: Appearance, Library (folder monitoring), Output (with various output plugins), and the screenshots need some updating to cover rearrangements on various pages.
  • External encoders: 'STDIN means - instead of %i', perhaps add a recommended setting for LAME (lame - %o --preset standard) and a hint to use 'lame --help' if one wants to know more options.
  • A large button linking to the forum on the main page, redirecting questions from the comments to the forum.
  • Ian edited the MSN-plugin to work with the new DSP interface, and Cris made a plugin for HyperIM, link here. (Other Addons)
  • External Encoders: current LAME version is 3.70, Ogg Vorbis is also updated, but I recommend oggenc2 (or oggenc2-lancer with a faster pc). Perhaps a link to RareWares?
  • Link to forum search under the Support Site search box?
Although Ian doesn't bloat XMPlay, he surely added a lot of options since the last major revision of the Support Site. I don't expect the Support Site to cover all of them, but I guess Folder Monitoring and Output Plugins are quite essential for the latest version.

But you should know I'm still a happy user of the Support Site :). Most articles still match with XMPlay, and there's no other place with so many screenshots and clear guides on how XMPlay works (the manual is a little harder to understand). But first things first: good luck with your thesis and exam! ;D

Wow, thanks, Dotpitch.

Note to myself: add a distribution notice for computer magazine publishers to the contact page.

:)  I am writing you from Argentina, where I live. I want to thank you for your XMPlay program, which I´m using since its version # 2. I saw it growing up and improve version after version, reaching an outstanding degree of excellence, far away from programs of the same kind. I use it not just as Player but also as Ripper, associated with Lame program. I would like to ask you for something, if it is possible: after executing Play or Ripper, to have an option of "Shut down the PC when DONE". If this is not possible, that´s fine, your program can not be improved!! Sorry for my english, obviously, is not my native language...Kind regards,Raul.

Unfortunately that's not currently possible. It (Exit XMPlay/Shutdown etc.. after finished task X) has been suggested as a feature for upcoming versions of XMPlay, though.

  • MIDI: rev 2 to rev 3.
  • New: Ganbatte! .D00 file player (link).
  • SID: 25a to 25b.
  • New: WASAPI output plugin (for Windows Vista).
  • RealAudio: beta to beta 7.
  • Delix: test version 7a to test version 8c.
  • FLAC: rev 4 to rev 5.
  • OddCast: 2.0.13 to 3.1.18 (some encoders require licences to broadcast over the internet)
    • MP3 (lame_enc.dll, comes with LAME, on RareWares)
    • Ogg Vorbis (ogg.dll, various tuned versions also available here under 'Dynamic Library')
    • Ogg FLAC (libOggFLAC.dll, libFLAC.dll)
    • AAC (libfaac.dll, on RareWares)
    • AAC+ (enc_aacplus.dll, from WinAMP 5, though the latest version doesn't seem to work...)

Can you open the with the 'Open file'-dialog, or add them to playlist, instead of drag'n'dropping? In Options and stuff > Playlist, is 'Verify file content' checked, and are xm and it not on your ignore list? Can you give an example of or a link to a file that is not working?

All of them are downloaded from "modarchive"
