XP and MP3 problem

Ian hi and have a happy new year.
I'm the author of Passion Audio Player, a freeware audio player which is based on BASS of course and i was reported the following situation:
1. Windows XP Home Edition
2. Intel 845 Chip Set    AC97  (Audio Card)
3. Unkown DirectX Version.
4. While my user can play wav files, he has problem with mp3 files-the program can close only from the task bar and all the other buttons that it has don't work. The problem is that i have tested my application on two Windows XP Systems and it works fine. In Windows 98Se it works fine too.
I'd say that 99% is another Windows XP Bug.
Could this have something to do with the encoder that it was used for creating his MP3 files?
Another remarkable point is that he reports that Windows Media Player 8 can play these .mp3 files?

Do you have any idea what's going on? We could say that my application has a bug, but this bug occurs only in his machine and not to all others?

You could try sending them one of the precompiled BASS examples (eg. BASSTEST) to try. That'll help determine where the problem lies - if the BASS examples work fine, then maybe there's something you're doing specific to MP3s in your program? Does the user have the problem with all MP3 files? How about OGG files?

Oh, and, happy new year to you ;D
