Can support for files with embedded cue be added?
It can be solved by copying the cue as a seperate file but it would be nice if xmplay would know how to handle the cue tag.

Thanks,
Amit

What file/tag format(s) did you have in mind? You can upload examples here...

   ftp.un4seen.com/incoming/

There isn't currently a way for plugins (eg. XMP-FLAC) to tell XMPlay about embedded CUE sheets... maybe something for 3.4.

The file formats I have seen so far using this method of embedding the cue file are : flac , ape , wavepack but i am sure it is possible for other files supporting a flexible tagging system.

Here is the messege window from xmplay :

It is simply added as a CUESHEET field in the tag.

As for uploading I have a few very large files. If it is necessary i can make the effort Smiley.

Thanks,

Amit

I've not looked into it yet, but sure, if you can upload some examples, that'd be helpful Smiley

Btw, as far as I was aware, FLAC has a special CUESHEET metadata block, but in your screeny it looks like its been put in the normal comments/tags instead (or maybe as well?). So that's a bit strange.

The FLAC built-in cuesheet metadata block is only a very basic outline of the timing of the tracks, with no CD-TEXT data such as artist and title information.  Therefore people like to make a custom comment block for another cuesheet that has all the typical information that people like to have.

not exactly sure if this is appropriate in this topic, but I have been using FLAC for a long time, and recently prefer to create flac images with embedded cue, and embedded jpg's in soon to be released flac 1.0.3.
Problem is playback, every audio player will play back the image as one long track, is there a way to playback by chapters according to the cue, i have spent over an hour searching around and reading alot, but i have made little progress in finding an exact solution.  Huh

1. If I remember correctly foobar is reading these embeded cuesheets correctly.

2. You can upload a flac file with embeded cue sheet to : ftp.un4seen.com/incoming/ and maybe Ian can get it to work in xmplay (I was intending to upload such a file but didn't have one since Ian asked me to)

I tried "fubar" but i would not play the flac file at all, I think they removed the support or plugin.  I was wrong and thinking of when I tried to play the .mka (mastroka) muxed flac image in it though Smiley

One thing I did notice before was the Message/Info Window in XMPlay would read the embedded cue sheet from the flac file I created with AutoFLAC+EAC.  But the player still treated it as one long track.

I have some images but they are all ~300mb, good music though, if it would help I will gladly upload one.

Ok I tried Foobar again and it does play back the flac images, it shows each "subsong" as a regular track on the playlist, and it works good.  It doesnt work at all with musikcube, and xmplay of course treats it as one very long track.

Hey this message is for Ian  Smiley
Let me know if you got the files I uploaded
Quote
X.cue 2.73kb MD5: b7f1ef63713b74ab558f96c44d30a56e
X.flac 319mb MD5: ae42fee44c009e47bab7e618c435a623
X.log 1.03kb MD5: 0658893af88262d4800247366fb0b155

Note that the cue file is unnecessary as it is also embedded in the flac file, I just included it for your convenience.  Also this rip was done with AutoFLAC for EAC.

I noticed that /edit if I keep the extra cue file edit/ XMPlay will update the title in the main panel with the info from the cuesheet as it goes into each 'subsong'.  This is almost good enough for me!  Cheesy  Only thing I would like is the ability to directly jump to each subsong instead of 'seeking' through to find it.  Not sure what would be the best way to do that.  Foobar basically splits the flac image into each of its subsongs onto the playlist, which is good but it also is a little 'untidy'.  Another thought is perhaps the flac plugin could have a window to choose from the sub tracks like some plugins handle other formats.  I prefer the latter, but thats just mho.  Smiley

also one little bug? I noticed when playing with that flac image was the 'total time' was very different from the actual track length.  Not sure why.

Right click on the next/previous song button. Should help. Smiley
(this should really go to the FAQ or something, it's at least the fifth time it's asked).

Shocked TY!  Now we're 99% of the way there.  The one thing still to be solved is read from embedded cue, so I dont have to keep the external one.
I am planning on ripping some of my cd's soon when the next flac is released which also supports embedded jpgs, which with a shell extension, should display the cover art as a thumbnail Smiley

Thanks, that'll come in handy when the time comes to implement some way for plugins to provide CUE sheets Smiley
