How about VQF

I didn't see anything about VQF files, but is BASS capable of handling them?

Out of topic - there seem to be too many encoding standarts theese days - all that MP3/AAC/OGG/VQF/ thing is really insane? Why do everyone believe that they have to create thir own file format?

I think the biggest reason its not supported is because pretty much noone uses it anymore. With good reason.

Mostly because they believe they can do a better job although...

MP3 was the first one pretty much, and AAC is being developed as its successor (MP4). OGG is a free opensource alternative to MP3 which there never was before (and is better quality too so bonus's allround). VQF well not sure but since its dead now and inferior quality (they said it themselves its not me) it does'nt really matter. WMA is Microsofts own format so they can take over the world like usual :P .

WMA can also go to hell like any other Microsoft software....Pretty much.

I did't know that VQF is dead, I actually found out that it exsisted as a format a few days ago :+). Anyway AAC and OGG are really good and if the claims in the OGG documentation are correct - it should rule the world.

Can anyone explain to me what is monkey audio? It sounds like nonsense - pretty much but I don't have a clue.

Monkey's Audio, FLAC, LPAC, Optifrog etc, are all lossless compression formats, unlike lossy audio formats such as Ogg and Mp3. So all lossless audio formats when unencoded are exactly as the wav the were made from, the only difference being the size of the resulting file.

Monkey's Audio gives the greatest compression at this time (Or so I think)
