Hi there! I'm an old XMplay user, I don't really use it anymore since switching to Linux, but once in awhile I find it useful for rendering mods. I'm having a problem rendering a certain song to disk right now. With the output device set to my soundcard it plays back fine normally. But when I set the output device to WAV Writer and check the "separate mod instruments" box, it sounds like all the NNAs are being changed to Note Cut. Channels 6-9 make this very clear, at about 1m 30s. I couldn't get into the un4seen ftp site (no anonymous access?) so I just uploaded the file to my own host: http://www.loxen.org/rand0m/moppomix.it.zipThanks! BTW For anyone interested, XMPlay kind of works in Linux now under Cedega 6. Trying to add a file makes things crash, but specifying files on the commandline works... there's lots of good music software on Linux but I still miss XMPlay  |

I know. I wasn't able to log in at all though. Ah, I see what my problem was, the XMPlay support site points to ftp:// www.un4seen.com and not ftp:// ftp.un4seen.com . Should've realized. |

Huh, that sounded fishy so I deleted my INI file and all the leftover registry entries and it seems to work now. Thanks. EDIT: ...or not. Things start out fine, then at about 1:56 on every channel the problem comes back. (Before I deleted the configs, the problem was present from the start.) Channel 8 should (hopefully) present the problem obviously from about 1:55. I'm rendering to disk at 96khz 32-bit, though using lower sample rates or bit depths doesn't seem to make any difference. Using the latest XMPlay available on the website (3.4.1). Auto-filename and separate instruments are both on. |

Uploaded an ogg of instrument 8 to the un4seen ftp, moppomix.it_-_008.ogg, to show you exactly what I'm getting. I've mixed it down to mono and cut the first 1:35 (silence) and much of the end. There's a vocal sample that plays, with an NNA of Continue. There are echoes of the sample on the same channel. There's 4 instances of it. The first time, everything plays as it should. The second and third times, the sample and the echoes suddenly cut out after a few seconds. The fourth time, each echo cuts out the previous playing sample, i.e. as if the NNA was set to Note Cut.  |

I know; it doesn't make sense, but I've had the exact same thing happen a couple of times. Do a backup of the .ini and try it yourself. Maybe there's some CR/LF bug in the parser or something, I don't know. |

I use playlists so the program plays one song after the other with lil' intervention on my part.
I went back to v. 3.4.0.0 and that one works tip top, no shut down problems. I use windows XP, SP2, latest updates, etc. I never had any problem at all with this program before v. 3.4.1.0 as I said. Cheers and thanks for ur hard work.

That's very strange, not least because nothing to do with DSP has changed Did it just appear the first time you ran 3.4.1.9, and were there any other changes to the DSP list? Have you since modified the DSP list at all? If not, please upload your XMPLAY.INI to have a look at... ftp.un4seen.com/incoming/You could then remove the "DSP" entry in XMPLAY.INI to start afresh. |
