How about a queue enhancement? We all know how it currently works, but I think we are not using it's full potential.

How about using queue as something you can just throw stuff into while rummaging your library, or HDs or CDs, or surfing the web? Things in queue would get played before things in playlist. Things in queue would vanish after being played. When queue is finally empty XMPlay would resume playing the playlist from the point it left it before stuff started to appear in the queue. Using queue would not disrupt the playlist in any way.

Yes, please! The thing I would most like to see is the addition of a "queue in XMPlay" option in the right-click menu. I have all my music organized folder-tree-style, and very frequently I select the music I want to hear by navigating through the folders, instead of finding it within XMPlay. It would be so much easier if I could right-click on a file and queue it, rather than maximize XMPlay and drag the file into the queue manually. It would also be nice if this worked on multiple files, so I could highlight the ones within a folder that I wanted to hear, queue them, and have them play in order. Thanks.

My recent post "Suggested Additions to XMPlay" (http://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=7438.0) was submitted to an incorrect thread due to unfamiliarity with the site.  I would therefore like to suggest/request the following to be considered for inclusion in the next release.

1.)   An option to automatically remove (upon closing XMPlay) any alterations to the user profile or registry created by XMPlay.  This would return the PC to the condition it was found in before using XMPlay.
Examples might include "Associated filetypes" and "Context menu".

2.)   The ability to drag multiple music files from a file manager (external to XMPlay) and have them added to the currently playing track list by dropping them on the XMPlay icon in the system tray when used with the option "Always in tray".
Possibilities might include:
   a.)   Automatically added to the currently playing track list when dropped
or b.)   Opening a menu on dropping asking whether to add, or replace current list and begin playing
or c.)   Restore the minimized XMPlay window after a configurable period of hovering the cursor over the XMP icon in the system tray, and dropping the selection directly into the track list.

I am not a programmer and therefore am unaware of whether these requests are achievable or the complexity of doing so.

Is a road-map and time-line of future developments available?  I cannot find one but this may say more about my searching ability than anything else.

I was silent on the actual request before, but now that I think about it... this almost seems like it should be the providence of a third-party application. Such a program could grab the current state of the Registry's settings that XMPlay would change, and then give the option to return them to that state at a later time.

I don't really see a reason why XMPlay itself should have to do this, but a helper program sounds just perfect for it.

My lack of programming skills limit my options in terms of producing a 'home-made' solution.  An answer is probably easily achievable using a launcher/wrapper such as those used by PortableApps.com (http://portableapps.com).  This manages registry and user profile settings required by an application, and restores the original condition of the PC when the application is closed.  I know that PortableApps.com is about to extend the range of licence types it accepts from strictly GPL to include both freeware and payware.  It might be that someone with greater programming skills than I creates a launcher/wrapper for XMPlay at that juncture.

It's not that I am suggesting that XMPlay "should have to do this" as it is clearly very successful without doing this.  It is rather that the author might want to adopt this in view of the rapid rise in popularity of portable applications.  A change such as this might extend the appeal of XMPlay to a wider and growing user-base.

I loooove new feature for skins and new skins like Min, showing song title all the time and buttons (play, pause...) when mouse is over.

I'd like to suggest a little little thing about this. what about blinking song title when song is paused??? now i need to move the mouse over XMPlay to know whether it's paused or not.

It appears that Sandboxie is only portable on PCs which grant administrator privileges.  The following is a quote from Wraithdu (the author) in response to a question regarding the privileges required:

"...Sandboxie needs Admin privileges to load it's service/driver. The newest launcher I uploaded should check to see if you have admin privs and terminate if you do not, avoiding such errors. Sorry, nothing I can do about that!"

Maybe it would be possible to add a selection box for the main volume slider to choose  between internal volume control (as it is today) and windows devices volume control (depending on the selected output).

"Open from clipboard" is brill, but could we get an "Add from clipboard"? Have to undo to get my old playlist back every time I push one in.
(I've found this method a nicer way than clipboard url watcher, at least now I won't catch BBC's .stm links by accident )

i think this is not possible yet...
i have "random play order" enabled, but sometimes i want to get back to the tune i last played. however, sometimes i just don't remember its name ( ), so i would appreciate a "last played track" button... maybe ctrl+click on the already existing "last track" button?

Here's a little rambling on features I'd like to see in the future sorted by priority (and I think the amount of work required as well):

1. I

in order not to accidentally mess with the current list and the currently playing song when I click a file/web link associated with XMPlay. It all works as expected, regardless of whether XMPlay is playing something or is idle (after having finished the list for example). I'd like to see another option to Play listed tracks only when XMPlay isn't already playing something (I think pause state counts as activity too).

2. I'm also for an option to skip silence as discussed here: http://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=7504.0
Preferably it would be possible at whatever point in the file, not just in the end. This is for avoiding the several minutes of silence that have often been added to the supposedly last track of a CD, after which comes the hidden song. I don't know if it would be harder to enable this for actual CDs than ripped and encoded streams but if possible for the latter alone, well, it would still be a very nice feature.

3. Would it be possible to use a shared library file on networked computers? I thought about just using XMPlay from a network drive but not every comp needs (or has spare resources) to load and run the same skins/plugins/visualizations. Just being able to specify a path for the library file would help but if the Library could also merge updates intelligently from multiple computers, well, heh, awesome.

4. I know the Library now has directory monitoring but I've never used it as it doesn't correspond to my needs. I only use the Library to store data about files that don't have their own meta data (modules) or to tweak the formatting of internet radio stations' stream tags. What I could use directory monitoring for would be adding stuff to the playlist of an XMPlay instance running on another computer in a network. In order not to produce unnecessary duplicates of files in the monitored dir, .lnk and .url files could be used instead. Naturally the files/links would be deleted from the directory when removed from the list. Either this, or some other means of remote control (which I believe was recently mentioned in some other thread, just can't find it). Remote desktop or VNC would accomplish the task but it should be transparent on the host computer and not interfere with its usage by taking control of mouse/keyboard input and display output.
