Is it possible to add to the playlist the option to sort tracks according to their data in library (genre,album,age,last played etc') ?
It can take form of a submenu in right click context-menu which affects selected files and/or a submenu in the existing sort menu.

Thanks.

-random play
-on the library, an option for order the songs by folder

also
-add the queue for a file that i'm playing on the moment (the queue in this case don't work!)

Both already available. The button for random play is usually at the top of the extended playlist, if you can't find it, use Options'n'stuff > Playlist > Random. In the library, use Full path/file and sort the file-column.

Is it possible to add this?

A delay from the time the mouse is entering or leaving the skin area until the skin changes from mini mode to main mode and vice versa when auto_mini is enabled. In skins like 'Min' or 'windows classic mini' it isn't necessary but for windows classic and similar (silk etc') it is essential. Without it the skin expands and shrinks at times without intention  when moving the mouse across the screen or when moving the mouse a fragment away from the skin by mistake while controlling the player.

I think best thing would be to add the option as a variable to the skin config: something like 'automini_delay' that will affect skins only when pos_automini=1.

Thanks.

A way to deactivate play list scanning / formatting!!! Otherwise xmplay will read an entire DVD of mod files and slow read speed down. (See this thred: http://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=7558.0

I wonder if it would be possible to add support for WinAmp classic skins. That would be quite useful.

Zarggg

Not really... The skin formats/engines are completely different.

Hi
I would have 2 suggestions for forthcoming versions :
- in the library, an option to see folders (and not only single files), so in a single mouse drag/drop you can add an entire folder to a playlist, or sort the folders (like : sort by "most recently created" or "most forgotten in the depth of my HD") ;
- in the visualization, an option to have the album cover picture displayed (or any other picture present in the root folder) ;

Zarggg

1. The library is for individual tracks. It is not intended to replace a dedicated file manager like Explorer.
2. This has been mentioned many times. There is currently no way to send this type of data to the visualization engine.

I'd like to be able to select a primary and a secondary output device and switch between them with a keyboard shortcut. I'm constantly switching between my monitor speakers and the stereo (connected to different soundcards) depending on my position in the room and whether there are more people present etc and I'd like to go from 4-6 clicks to a single keypress.

Tsorovan

That's a pretty cool idea.
I would also want to be able to reverse stereo with the click of a hotkey for those pesky albums that have the drums (and/or piano, for that matter) panned as if you were standing in front of them instead of sitting behind them, and as a wannabe/ex-drummer, that's sacrilege.

I'm aware of this. What I'm proposing is a compatability layer, so to say. Would it be possible to develop an overlaping skin structure that strictly provides compatibility with WinAmp classic skins?

The code is already out there in numerous open-source players that are already modelled after WinAmp. It would be a simple matter of using that code as reference for implementing a similar feature in XMPlay.

Tsorovan

Wouldn't it be better to spend that energy/time on making a completely new and shiny skinning system with more possibilities?

Zarggg

Yes. It would. ::)

Also, XMPlay is not Winamp and we don't want it to be.

Alexsource

And xmplay is not open source, but closed source freeware. It might not be impossible legally speaking, but might take a nice amount of time.

I have the information window (the one with the general/message/samples/vis tabs) stickied to the right edge of the screen. If I click on one of the tabs with auto-resize disabled, their horizontal position may shift due to them being aligned to the left side of the information window. My suggestion is, could you right align the tabs if that window is stuck to the right edge of the screen?

1)  scalable fonts for the extended playlist

2)  scalable sizes for the main player and extended playlist a la Winamp (percentage increments of 50 would be good - 100% / 150% / 200% / 250%)

In short, REAL skinning capabilities.

This is technically a great player with a remarkably full feature set and audio quality that is second to none.  it suffers form one of the worse interfaces I have ever seen and as monitors get larger and resolutions get higher, this is rapidly becoming a major liability.

You've got the goods under the hood - now let's put some effort into the bodywork.

re-checking the song-length every now and then.

either every x seconds wich would give a certain overhead... or each time the status-bar hits the end. So when I listen to an mp3 while I download it, I can see the progess.

raina

You can see the download progress of a streamed file on the General info page.
