Suggestions for 3.5

Hmm.. sounds more like a right click option for the close button. "Shut down computer after playing this track" could be another one.

piovrauz

but right now right click is for closing with the option of retaining file playing position, and I use it, so I needed somethin on another button, stop was free for this ;) btw I don't like when program shut down pc, a wrong setting could do disasters...

raina

Oops, I forgot about the close button already having that rmb function since I use position remembering all the time via the checkbox.

3.4 is exellent / Espessially for ASIO it's sounds great on my M-AUDIO REVO. It 's a reason to forget an ASIO advantages of Winamp, Foobar.... XMPLAY+ASIO is the best. A dream is come into reality // thank you very much to this.
.. and many other good improvements (for Creative and other cards - now resampling is working..wow).. Ian .. thank you.

my suggestion for 3.5 is:

to make able not only downmixing&multichannel playback(that exist now), but an advanced up-mixing (like in foobar channel mixer plugin) of stereo(mono)-only to (4.0,4.1,5.0,5.1....7,1) multi-channel whis auto-bypassing of internally multichannel streams. It's desirable to have not only stupid surroud sound upmix, but to enable also a copy mode (multi-stereo pair), and an advanced crossover(4-th order) with custom settings of frequency in Hz (like from 20 to 200) with possibility of 3 different redirection modes (move all crossovered bass to sub, move crossovered bass to sub but leave bass at sattelites, only remove crossovered bass from sattelites).

An up-mixing will be a good addition to standard DSP-s like Reverb, EQ. (or to output mode settings).

A good example is foobar's channel mixer plugin, but it had dirty sounded 2-d order crossovered bass.

Now i'm enjoin' an exellent stereo through XMPLAY+ASIO

But I hope to able to enjoy an exellent up-mixed quadro, multi-stereo (and another advanced custom multi-channel modes).
If it (and other good improvements) will come to reality in future, xmplay will became unconquerable audio-player in the world.

QuoteI wrote such suggestions to the J-River Media Center developers a half year ago and they really appeared in new 12 version. But it's a very expensive and very commercial (not or very problem-crack-able) cost software (also with ASIO support), and I can't buy it (only try  :'() .. so I don't like this.

/ XMPlay (with such flexible features) will be really THE BEST ever.  ;)
------------------------

And other..please redirect volume slider from internal xmplay's volume to system master volume in ASIO mode (or make custom ckeckbox to do it). ASIO is for bit-perfect playback so no manual internal mixer volume correction needed. (this functions is made by pre-amp (auto-amp) when needed).

---------------------------------

and another... it will good to make additional option to auto-amp modes, to make it posiible to work like static constant pre-amp. .... :-[oh sorry for this not needed suggestion .. this function is working well now through auto-amp off and reset on new track off.

-------------------------------------
it's good to develop an native-plugins DSP-s (like EQ, Reverb). The idea of using winamp-brige is good, but it's not native - so they don't always work good / They may be like only an alternative, but

availability of many native xmplay's DSP plugins (like in foobar2000) is the best solution.

-------------------------------------
And also enabling the Kernel Streaming output will finally kick foobar2000's ass .

SHIN

I enjoy XMPlay as my most favorite music player.  ;D

But now again, I may suggest the tiny feature could be implemented.
It is Playlist History.

When I played certain single music to glance tune (sorry for my poor English..) , contents of Playlist are replaced with that music.(Usually it's caused by double clicking on the song and playlist files.) It's so often needed to retrieve former contents of Playlist.(I know I can add files into Playlist by right-click menu. If I use this function, I must delete those added tunes to retrieve list after checking though... :()
In 3.4, I must reselect filses again to put them into Playlist.(Typically by opening certain Playlist files such as "pls" and "m3u")
Playlist History could make more easy to retrieve former list sets.

I hope this option would be in XMPlay, thanx ;)

SHIN

Sorry again.

I thought Favorite (Bookmarks) would be more easy to retrieve certain Playlists and files.

This would be much better :)

Options'n'stuff > Shortcuts > List - Undo can help you a bit, but it only reverts one change ;).

amit

I prefer double clicking on a track in the media library will cause the library list to be copied to the playlist and the playback will start from the track under cursor.

Maybe there should be a listbox providing several options for double clicking that will satisfy all tastes?

piovrauz

Would it be possible to add support to some "container format", like .mka? I'm asking this because I'd like to be able to usea FLAC+cue muxed one, basically cause I don't feel like having the cuefile separated, or in a tag (I don't like tags so much). since It works on directshow players that can play mkv, I suppose a native plugin is feasible (like the 7z one, or like audio is demuxed from mp4). Maybe I'm asking too much? ;)

Knurek

Upping the maximum amp level would be nice. Here's a file that requires amp set to +29.95 dB

Wouldn't it be easier/better to just declare that track faulty and in need of being remade/fixed?

Well, Maxim just added replaygain support to VGM plugin, so I was really just posting this as a example.

Quote from: mmWhen adding several albums to the playlist and only displaying track titles (not artist name), it is hard to see where one albums ends and another starts.

How about an option to add a small mark when a playlist file resides in a different folder than the file above it?
That's what I wanted to get with additional title formatting tags in playlist.
I've found some sort of solution. Press F5 to display extended playlist and then Ctrl-Up or Ctrl-Down to go to currently playing song (display filenames in extended playlist should be toggled on).
If it's hard to do with tags, a keyboard shortcut to display title bubble with full filepath will be fine.

is the newest in_vgm.dll worth downloading?
since XMPlay has its own dynamic amplitude adjuster already...

You can bind toggle path/filename display in the playlist to a hotkey. List - Show filenames in ext. list

Zarggg

I think I will re-register my request to "fix" the VBR display for MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files. In previous versions, it showed a "live" version of the bitrate (i.e., the bitrate display in the main window changed according to the rate of the currently-playing section of the file), but a couple versions ago (3.2? 3.1?) this stopped working and the main window only displays the average bitrate for the file.

Eye candy, I know... but I like eye candy and it does work with the MPC native plugin. ;D

Yeah, I know. I want filepaths to be shown in main playlist. Or maybe some option to automatically center on current track in extended playlist. Than I can use extended playlist instead of main one (then it will be convenient to have extended playlist as separate window to have both playlist and file comments on screen at the same time).

Runelord

I have a few suggestions that I hope get implemented and arn't too hard...

-Ability to show the time in this form: TIME / TIME REMAINING.  I currently just see the time of a track, for example if I am at the 1:22 mark, but I don't know how long the song is.  It would be nice to see 1:22/4:23 or something, for example.  By the way, thank god I figured out how to get rid of those tenths digits, they were driving me crazy...

-I think the entire default interface is extremely clunky.  There is no reason to have 2 places for the playlist, and I think the drag out style of it is silly.  Some of the skins are nice, but there is only one problem with them.  The various windows of the program do not snap together, so it becomes an enormous hassle to drag it around.

-If the playlist is in focus, starting to type searches the playlist.  It is implemented perfectly in http://www.sheepfriends.com/?page=billy , it's even type as you go, and you see the results right away, but it's a very convienient to find stuff this way

-I didnt see this, maybe I'm just blind, but the ability of queue songs would be nice.  In the program I just mentioned, you just highlight the song and press "Ins" it will be queued, and designated on the playlist.

Billy was a great program, but hasn't been updated in years and won't be.  I hope I was clear lol

You can queue a song (selection) from its context menu. The default keyboard shortcut for it seems to be ' . You can of course change this.

If you need to move around all the windows of Xmplay at the same time, go to "options and stuff", then "appearance" and check "move info window with main". You'll be able to move both of them around at the same time.

The thing about having 2 playlists... I'm with you on this one, since I never used the tiny one in the main window, only the "complete" one on info window...
