Im using bassmix to create a new file out of an editied 'whole' file in VB6... works a treat//.. now I want to insert a 1 K tone at varous points with differeing durations... anyone know how I can do that?

You could create custom streams (BASS_StreamCreate), and generate the tones in the STREAMPROC. If you only need a 1khz tone though, you could also just pre-generate that in a WAV file, using Cool Edit/Audacity/etc...
