Hi,

I'm using the WVS-G15 applet which display's info on its keyboard-display.
When I use this applet with XMPlay and play radio streaming like:

Stream Title: The Source: Smooth Jazz and More Radio - The Best Smooth Jazz on the Internet (Stereo)
Content Type: audio/mpeg
Stream Genre: Smooth Jazz Urban Contemporary Jazz
Stream URL: http://mysite.verizon.net/respswi8/t...zandmoreradio/
Stream AIM: N/A
Stream IRC: #shoutcast
Current Song: Joyce Cooling - At The Modern

the display lists the item "Stream Title"
I would like it to display the item "Current Song" or ideally both.

Whatever I change in the default Formatting string (within Titles), there is no change in behaviour.
How could I alter the default Formatting string so that it displays Current song instead of Stream Title?

Thanks in advance,
GB

AFAIK, you can't. XMPlay always grabs whatever is specified as "Stream Title". I cannot answer the reasoning for this, but I agree it would be nice to be able to grab the currently-playing song/track/what-have-you.

I think it might be related to a limitation in the Shoutcast protocol, and there might have been an earlier thread here or on another forum related to that. (Apologies to the vague answer; I am responding on my lunch hour and don't have time to do an exhaustive search.)

Hi Zargg,

thanks for your remarks, but XMPlay also grabs the "Current Song" item.
If you select the i knob in the main window (Track info and extended Playlist) then:

1. "Stream Title" is displayed in the playlist and
2. "Current Song" is displayed in XMPlay's main window

I presume the formatting string within Options and stuff-Titles determines which items are displayed in XMPlay's main window.
WVS displays what is in the playlist eg "Stream Title".

So I need a way to change the active playlist data ("Stream Title") into the data which is in "Current Song" which XMplay is displaying in its main window.

I'm almost sure it can be done, but how  Wink

That WVS-applet uses a DSP-plugin to grab the title. It just grabs the 'Info - General - Title' item, I guess, and not 'Info - Message - Track'. You cannot change this on XMPlay's side.

Hi,
What GB is actually asking for is nothing dissimilar to what can be found within other players.
This is, the ability to exactly specify the playlist title when listening to a radio stream, but applies to everything really.
Currently only the stream title can be displayed.

When using Winamp with the above stream the playlist title will display (by default) "artist - track name (stream title)", which shows the protocol not to be an issue. This is what GB would like from XMPlay.

WVS's roll in this is incidental as it displays whatever is in the playlist, nothing more.
Dotpitch, WVS grabs the title via SendMessage(...,IPC_GETPLAYLISTTITLE).

Just a clarification: I was not saying that XMPlay cannot be made to do this, just that it currently, as programmed, does not.

That being said,

my compliments for XMPlay, never seen such a marvelous program for free!

I've got a G15 and WVS doesn't work properly at all. I can see the song title scrolling and the track progress, but the 'next track' buttons, volume buttons etc, don't work. Seems buggy in general.

I've copied the files correctly as far as I can tell (since the data is getting to the keyboard). Any suggestions of things to try would be appreciated.

The applet displays information about the currently playing file, it does not control the shortcuts. You have to use Options and Stuff > Shortcuts for that. And perhaps check this thread.

Hi Nukkels,
It's probably best for everyone if WVS queries are resticted to the G15 forum @ http://www.g15forums.com/forum/

As for the problem at hand:
Ensure you're using the latest version of XMPlay.exe - at least version 3.4.2.18
If you wish, WVS can be configured to handle the media keys, though only when XMPlay has focus. Go to the G15 section of the config page then set 'Handle media keys' to Yes.
As you're using the G15v2 you may also wish to set 'Reverse volume control' to Yes.

You may also be interested to know that there is an XMPlay specific installer available @ http://mylcd.sourceforge.net/ . Look for wvs_03011-xmplay-setup.exe.
