I know it's not functional, but esthetic, but it would be nice to have an option to have a custom fade out,
after the song is stopped in the middle of playing. JetAudio has it, and it make things quite smooth.

well, custom fadein/out on play/stop/pause/exit like in winamp would be great, I remember askin for it some time ago too. it's not a thing that will made me leave xmplay (I won't, ever) but it'll be nic having them. since I suppose it'll be quite some work, it's up to HIM, I'll limit myself to second you here Wink

Crossfading is The Most Asked Feature Ever for XMPlay. Despite that it is still not implemented...

Auren, i don't think Sam_Zen thinks of crossfading. It rather sounds to me like a little smooth fadeout after you pressed the stop button f.e..

Maybe not, but it's essentially the same thing.

Not really. Crossfading is a lot trickier to implement since you have to pre-load another file as you're listening to the current one. I don't really know how it's done, if you load it in the same buffer, or keep two buffers around...

WHAT?
one is for making stopping a tune smoother, the other is a transition effect. i tended to like the small fadeout that you could enable in w(h)in(e)amp, it makes stopping / resuming a tune much more enjoyable. nothing important, though...

Well, I guess it depends on how you think about it Roll Eyes... but they ARE both just about fading.

Although it has of course some relations to this, I consider crossfading as a different, so OT issue.

As saga mentioned, it's just about 'a little smooth fadeout after you pressed the stop button'.

The next logic thing would be to have the inverse situation, as saga mentioned :
A small fadein after resuming the track somewhere from a certain point.

Agreed. But a crossfade, apart from the memory-issue, has to deal with 4 volume variables instead of 2.

Yes, I realize that. I just thought codewise, they should have at least some similarity, and I guess that's what Ian would think about if he decided to implement any of these.
