I downloaded the latest XMPlay.exe from the "read first" sticky thread. XMPlay will still crash on this file. I get the standard "xmplay.exe has encountered a problem..." error stating that error signature originated from the ntdll.dll ModName. The file is probably just corrupted. I will upload it to your ftp: xeron-illuminated.hvl. Hopefully you encountera similar problem for the sake of consistency. I'm using the AHX/Hively Tracker [rev.11a] plugin to play this.

Perhaps this may be useful to you for stability hardening?

Thank you,
Matt.

Can xmp-ahx rev 15 play the file correctly, or does that crash as well?

Yes, that was it. Works perfectly.

Thanks for the link to the update. Don't know why I didn't think to check for the latest plugin.

Sorry, I spoke too soon. There is a more serious problem with the latest version of the AHX/HivelyTracker.

It is definitely the "AHX/HivelyTracker" player plugin. The latest revision allows playback on the file that I noticed a crash on; however, the latest revision causes crashes on almost any large group of .hlv or .ahx files. I attempted to isolate the problem, but I found that no specific file causes the crash. I will attach a .zip of .ahx files pulled from TheModArchive web site. Simply drag this file onto XMPlay and a crash will occur in a matter of a few seconds. If you perfer not to use the xmp-zip plugin, extracting it to a directory and dragging the directory onto XMPlay also causes this crash.

This only happens with rev. 15 of the above plugin. I reverted back to rev. 11a and the problem goes away (still can't play that one file I pointed out earlier, but that's better than nothing). This error occurs on multiple versions of XMPlay, including the latest beta.

Thanks for your attention,
Matt.

try the revision 14... I'm going to test revision 15 when I get home. But as far as I can remember I think 14 has worked fine for me.

you are very correct.. revision 15 seems to crash when it's calculating the song length but I'm not sure... but what I can say is... I added the 25 first songs... closed xmplay, then fired it up and I didn't start playing any music... then I added one song, and then another and it crashed. When i did the exact same thing again it didn't crash... so the bug seems to be rather random..

also thanx like crazy for sharing the ahx zip of good stuff music! Cheesy

bacoman end seems to hang itself for the rest of the song at 01:20.27
bacoman lvl1 seems to hang the comp instruments at 00:35:00 first and then the lead at 00:41
all bacoman tunes seem to have the same problem.

Try this...
http://dhost.info/pieknyman/bin/test/xmp-ahx.dll [link removed]

I think it's sorted now, but please check anyway. There's indeed a major memory issue in rev.15 - thanks for spotting this.

Some of Jazz's tunes seem to be unfinished. I didn't check with the tracker, but track order lists in these "unfinished" songs are really empty.

EDIT: Actually most them. Need to try with the original tracker...

I'm afraid this version doesn't load with Xmplay.

And here's a fixed version of the FTP link, you HTML-noob: ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/AHX/Jazz%20(NL) Grin

I copied the file into my xmplay plugins dir and I didn't get any warnings when I started xmplay. maybe when a ahx song comes it'll not work?

I'm using 2.4.2.85 or something like that of xmplay.

Yeah, but the plugin isn't loaded and therefore does not appear in the plugin section of XMPlay's config dialog.

Problem fixed. Please redownload the plugin.

As for the "bacoman" songs: they sound the same in AHX tracker.
