-> I think it would not be a huge problem to build this in as an option, and it would make XMPlay one step more portable than others...
xmplay.exe -settings "path/to/xmplay.ini and other stuff"

-> Is there some documentation on other commandline functions? And is it possible to for example add the secret ini-options by adding a commandline parameter?

Why would you want to use multiple configurations on the same portable device?

Is there some documentation on other commandline functions?
  • -tray: start XMPlay in tray
  • -play: starts playing directly (useful when no file or playlist is explicitly opened)
  • -boost: increase GUI priority
That''s about it Wink.
And is it possible to for example add the secret ini-options by adding a commandline parameter?
No. Shouldn't be that hard to do that without starting XMPlay.

I think the first one could actually be useful, as I currently have XMPlay running on an external HDD (until I have set up my computer completely), and when I change between different computers, I might have different drive letters (I know I can fix this) which might be important to some ini settings.

So, basicly the answer is: we're not going to implement any command-line functions? :p

What if I say "asjeblieft"?

Are you aware that xmplay.ini  can be set to both windows user folder or xmplay.exe folder ? In miscellaneous section of 'options and stuff' look for  'store per-user config/etc' .

It's not possible to modify the ini-file with XMPlay from the commandline, that's all I said ment to say Wink. Only Ian knows what commandline options XMPlay might have in the future.

Would a 'helper' application/batch file be a viable option?

As in, have several copies of xmplay.ini in the folder, one for each task. Then start the batch file with "xmpstart.bat other_xmplay.ini", the batch copies the requested .ini file to xmplay.ini. This'd give access to all (even secret) ini settings. Smiley

If individual options are necessary, someone could flip up a small app which can append single lines to an .ini. Good idea? Grin
