16 sample mod
« on: 11 Jun '09 - 00:29 »
I can't get XMPlay to play 16sample (pre-M.K.) mod files.

If it really doesn't, it is really a shame, given that the only difference in structure is
16 samples instead of 32 and no need to bypass M.K.

Or XMP might have an option to allow 16sample mods.

Currently I am force to keep modplug only for playing old mods.

Discussed many times. XMPlay doesn't do 15 sample MODs but you can use plugins for that.

Search the forum: XM can't recognize some .mod's.

Thank you, I've got it working, but natural support would be better, because
it allows to display patterns while playing, etc.

Here are links for some input plugins (designed for WinAmp, but XMPlay compatible), which support old MODs:

MikAmp (also .669):   http://support.xmplay.com/file_comment.php?id=25
ModPlug (alos .med): http://support.xmplay.com/file_comment.php?id=27

Well, 15 sample mods aren't THAT common... And the problem is that they have no magic bytes, so XMPlay could detect anything as a 15 sample mod in theory.
