There is a new update available, where RAW AAC support has completely been removed. It seemed to cause troubles with other plugins.

Now files of other formats are playable again. However, there's still an issue. When dragging any m3u file for an album of mpc files onto the player, XMPlay crashes. 100% reproduceable on my system. When reverting back to old xmp-aac this behavior stops. With this new xmp-aac in it happens everytime.

I extracted the info of one of these crashes from drwtsn32.log. But that's far to long to post here. I can mail it if there's any interest...

Thanks for the tip, but as drwtsn32.log also contains informations on my private system, I rather not make it publicly available. Sending it to the developers will be enough....

Correct me if I am wrong regarding the steps required to reproduce the bug:

1: Open an MP4 or AAC file from the HDD and play it with XMPlay.
2: Drag&Drop an M3U file containing a reference to an MPC file to XMPlay.

The above scenario doesn't cause XMPlay to crash on my side.

Same here, I wasn't able to reproduce the bug.

Correct. Except that the M3U files I tried contained references to an album of MPC files, meaning several files (all different albums though, 1 M3U file goes with each album, I tested 4 different albums), I haven't tested with just one file. Also it happens everytime I do this with new xmp-aac in, whether I played an MP4 or AAC file before or not.... Reverting to old xmp-aac still fixes it. It does not happen if the M3U refer to an album of M4A, OGG or MP3 files.

Using the newest xmp-mpc BTW. MPC files coded with mppenc 1.15v --quality 6

I tested a M3U file that contained references to several "braindead" encoded MPC files. No crash, they simply got parsed and added to the playlist. Please make sure that you are using the latest xmp-aac.

I emptied firefox cache and redownloaded. Got a version a few hours newer than the last I tried, but still same behaviour.... I now also tested with M3U file only refering to a single MPC file. It don't crash. Only when the M3U refer to several files.

Unfortunately, the log doesn't give any clues (the crash location is outside any loaded modules). Can you try adding each of the tracks from the M3U to the list individually, to see which (if any) is causing the crash?

On one of these albums, 3 out of 25 tracks provoked this crash when added individually. I've uploaded one of these tracks to ftp.un4seen.com/incoming/
It's to be found in archive MPC-Crash-XMPlay.rar (1,6 MB).

This track provokes a crash in XMPlay every time with new xmp-aac (latest from this thread) in. When exchanged with old xmp-aac (the version on support site native plugins) no such crash occur.

i transcode the AC3 audio file from this web site
http://www.lynnemusic.com/surroundmusic.html
to aac by using the latest CVS FAAC version.

but my pc freeze when playing multichannel m4a/aac with xmplay...
is anybody willing to test multichannel aac decoding in xmplay?
im fear my pc will freeze again... $:-\$

i've tried it, and it works for me

ac3 (raw from dvd) with Valex ac3-decoder (winamp-plugin)
standard wave and ogg with xmplay itself
mp4 (with FAAC 1.24.1) with the native plugin or the winamp-plugin (the winamp one works perfectly, the native one seems to remap the channels or forget one, cause i don't hear anything on surround right)
wma with xmp-wma, but that one seems not to support more than 2 channels

at least no freezing here
