mmm, xmp-ffmpeg doesn't seem to be the cause.
I have no other plugin that ould try to load .ogg, exept the .flac one...
But it's not it. I'm still investigating, since none of my plugin seem to be causing it.

EDIT: well, it must be a setting. I I add all my plugins to a clean XMPlay install there's no problem with those streams at all.
If I add xmplay.ini (with some secret settings) it happens again.

EDIT2: OK, found it. long life compare plugin on notepad++. It's related to the loops, as I tought (yeah, sadly).
Disabling Track loopingì/ending (set to none) makes those streams work. If it's set to auto or always those streams won't play.
That's something Ian will have to look into.

Btw, nice stream (second one)

You're faster than me!
I confirm that play ok with Loop = "Never" in the "Miscellaneous" section.
Glad you like it!

Scrap the previous text that was here (well, you can't read it anyway...).
[ I overwrote the .ini. Good thing I do backup it ... ]

BTW: could this issue with ogg streams be related to the issues Gaumon was talking about earlier? mmmm

Playing local mp3 media, and at forwarding xmplay hand and i need to kill the process.
I cannot reproduce that here. Are you using a shortcut to fast-forward through a track? Does it happen directly, or only after some steps trough the track? Do other shortcut (like Next) still work, or is XMPlay really stuck?

could this issue with ogg streams be related to the issues Gaumon was talking about earlier?
Both seem to be ogg-looping-related indeed, it looks like XMPlay does not fall back correctly to the 3.7-method when no loop points are specified.

I might aswell reuse my wrong post for a little issue I have since a long time: I can't use the font included in the skins "directly", I always have to install in the windows font directory.
This happens to me with all the skins basically, I always get the message about the font substitution till I manually put them in the windows font directory.
It's not a major annoyance cause I usually keep using the skin for a while, but it would be nice to fix this.

I'm staying on 3.7 because 3.8 is very buggy for me :(. It FC when i want to load ast files, ahx and zip files. MO3 files unable to listening and Delix plugin doesn't work. I hope some libs will update and it will work. BTW SID rev.32 plugin doesn't work on xmplay 3.7.

What do you use to play ast and ahx? What files are inside those zips? Could you upload a mo3-file which doesn't work, so Ian can analyse it?

purenoise and lollollol666, I challenge you to help Ian isolate the bugs and fix them, rather than ignoring the bugs by downgrading. Please contribute to XMPlay!

What skin for example are you having problems with? Are you using xmpskin-files, or the source files? What Windows version are you using?

Hmm, since version 3.8 the Loop function seems to be broken, or rather the 'Auto-loop any track ending with sound'-function.
The same track (an .ogg-file) played in version 3.7 all times repeated, since XMPlay 3.8 never!  ???
I've checked in the options: 'Loop' to auto, 'Limit' is unchecked and all set to 0, like it in version 3.7 was. This also happens to other files (.mp3, .acc etc.).

Note:  Beforehand, the problem seems ONLY to affect the .ogg-files, no other audio files.
I've tested it with the same .ogg-file on a clean 'install' of XMPlay 3.8  &  3.7, both with the same settings, no plugins.
Version 3.7 works great, version 3.8 works NOT.  Any ideas to fix it?

That will be a side effect of the support for looped OGG files (loopstart/looplength tags). The "Auto-loop any track ending with sound" option only applies to file formats that XMPlay/plugins don't have any loop detection for, so it no longer applies to OGG files since the addition of the OGG loop detection. Applying it to all file formats would probably result in some unwanted looping (I'm thinking particularly of the MIDI plugin), but an XMPlay update (3.8.0.1) is now up, which allows a decoder (eg. the OGG decoder) to request that "Auto-loop any track ending with sound" be applied if its own loop detection finds nothing.

The problem is that XMPlay 3.8 not play OGG streams as:
http://amp.cesnet.cz:8000/cro-d-dur-256.ogg
...

Oops! As piovrauz suspected, that bug was introduced when the OGG looping was implemented. It's fixed in the 3.8.0.1 update.

Playing local mp3 media, and
at forwarding xmplay hand and i
need to kill the process.

I don't seem to be able to reproduce that problem. Is it happening with a particular MP3 file? If so, please upload it to have a look at here...

Is that only when using the skin in source/non-compiled form? XMPlay currently only looks for custom fonts included in compiled skins, so when using a skin in source form, you would indeed need to install its fonts in Windows. The reasoning is that sources would usually only be used during skin development, and the author is likely to already have the fonts that they want to use installed :)

MO3 files unable to listening...

I guess the MO3 files are using OGG-encoded samples? The bug above that was causing the OGG internet streams to not play was also causing OGG samples in MO3 files to not be loaded. It should be fixed in 3.8.0.1.

BTW SID rev.32 plugin doesn't work on xmplay 3.7.

The plugin system was updated in 3.8 for improved subsong info/separation support, and any plugins that make use of that stuff will require XMPlay 3.8. That applies to the FLAC/OPUS/SID plugins so far.

1) Ogg stream fixed, thanks a lot for the quick fix.

2) Font issue: yes, seems to happen to source form skins only. I usually use most skins in that form so I can adjust little details to my liking withut bothering ppl.
Would it be possible to have xmplay scan the source folder dor required fonts too? If not, it's not a problem, I can install manually as I did until now.

Solved the problem with the loop of OGG files.
Thank you very much for the quick fix.

Another problem, also with OGG streams: Both XMPlay 3.8.0.0 and 3.8.0.1 do not draw title tags, only the name of the stream.
The format string is the string default.

Thanks for attention and sorry for the delay in reporting.

About title tags, I'm pretty sure it's now XMPlay causing it.
I listen to a couple of web streams that don't sed track title along the stream, and the classical ones you linked do the same.
Another couple of streams do send title of the track, and XMPlay shows them, up to the 20th, as I set in the secret setting I asked for. ;)
So nothing Ian do, maybe you could ask the streamer to add that data?

Thanks for your response piovrauz
Yes, I know the problem with the streamers.
I have had to explain better, sorry.
That is not the problem I want to report.
If you play
http://stream3.rozhlas.cz:8000/jazz_high.ogg
you clearly see the difference: XmPlay3.7.0.44 shows artist and title tags and XmPlay3.8.0.x no.
Now, look at the Message tab and you'll see that the data has been received but not displayed.
I hope I was clearer this time.
Best regards and sorry for my bad and poor English again.

Oh, you mean that the tags are not displayed even if there are tag to display. Got it now.
I get that too, it happens on .ogg streams only, but .mp3 streams are unaffected.
My bad actually, I checkd with the stream I was playing only.

Dyna Blaster.ast xmplayer FC.
Beyound the network.mo3 (from bejeweled 2) the music is muffled.
Any AHX file zipped get FC xmplayer but ahx unzipped works fine.

mmm, stupid suggestion maybe, but are you sure you got only ! zip archive plugin in XMPlay folder?
I remember having something like  that in the past and it boiled down having 2 revision of the same plugin at the same time.

OK. An XMPlay 3.8.0.2 update is up now, which will look for fonts with non-compiled skins too.

That should be fixed in the 3.8.0.2 update. As a little bonus, OGG stream titles are also now included in the "Recent tracks" list :)

OK, I have one of the most annoying bugs in XMPlay... the worst thing is, I don't know if it's a problem in XMPlay or it's another craziness of my Portable Hard Disk Drive motherboard. Each time I drag the "Music" folder from my Portable HDD to XMPlay, it crashes exactly 3 minutes after that operation with a MSVC Runtime Code R6016.

EDIT: XMPlay was blurred in this image due to confidential works.

It's probably a software problem. Does it also happen when you add only part of the folder? Is it all mp3s in the folder?

xmp-midi crashes XMPlay upon loading a midi file (stream I mean, not local file). T_T
I suppose it's something related to the recent changes to the plugin interface? Was it there before?
