Bass and Vst
« on: 1 Jun '21 - 19:30 »
Hello,

I made a audio software, and I used Bass libraries. I want to use this software as VST. Is it possible?
If yes, how can I do it?

Start here: http://www.un4seen.com/download.php?z/5/bass_vst24

The readme.txt and bass_vst.h files contain useful information.

Maybe you could start out by describing what exactly you are trying to achieve and where you are seeing difficulties. In general it is possible to use BASS inside pretty much any software but without knowing what you want to do it's hard to say whether it will be possible or not. The answer to "can I use BASS inside a VST" is yes in the general case. But what exactly do you want to do with it?

Hi,
if I right understand you want to build your own DSP Effect(s) (e.g Echo,Compressor, Limiter.....) ?

I build something like sampler, and I use Bass libraries. So I want to use this software as VST instrument and open as VST in sequencer software (cubase, logic pro etc.).

If you do want to create your own VST, the VST SDK is available from Steinberg here:

I think it's worth mentioning that Bass_VST is only needed when you want to create your own VST host. As Ian told for creating your own VST effect plugins or VSTi instruments you do not need Bass_VST (or even Bass at all) you only need the VST SDK. But there is one potential problem: Bass_VST (and VST host created with it) only supports VST/VSTi 2.x plugins (up to 2.4) but as a new developer you are no longer 'legally' allowed to create new 2.x VST plugins with Steinberg's VST SDK. Only VST 3.x plugins are supported. More Info:
