On that...  it seems that when I add something to the playlist, unless I scroll it around manually, hover it, etc. it won't update in 2.8.x

Same issue here, when (for example) I have the big playlist open, and I shuffle the playlist, it won't update until hovered over, scrolled or resized the window.

(One minute later: )
Hmm.. After fiddling around, I noticed that when a song is playing, it updates the playlist properly when shuffling, but when the music is stopped or unloaded, it doesn't update it without the previously mentioned actions.

Plus, when there is no music on, and I shuffle from big playlist, the small playlist window updates automatically, leaving the big playlist without any changes. And when sending the shuffle command from the small playlist, the big playlist updates without any further notice, leaving the small playlist without updates. (Sounds weird to me too, but that's how it seems to work.)

Oh, I'm on WinXP machine, as that probably counts ;)

 2. I have about 2Gb of Live Mixes in MP3, which, the smallest is 50Mb, and the biggest, 220Mb. Did you ever thought that files this big could exist? If you did, I cannot understand how did you decide to load the whole .mp3 file into memory.

Oh man! I do have a request. This would make a great option, because when downloading mp3s you obviously can't stream them when it wants to change filename from incomplete to complete. Thats a problem in most cases. So in memory is good, however file streaming would be better...

And of course I'm just going off the assumption that this quote is true.

I don't understand, how you people have that dragg'n'drop/shuffle problem, since I'm also using the same platform (as Jace at least).. I seem to remember this issue some times back, so I'd have assumed it's gone already ???.

Ouch.. This is the problem with a "suggestions" thread this old :P. See, the quote you picked is almost two years old, and although I'm not even sure about how the mp3s are exactly handled these days, I'm sure the issue is solved already.

Minor suggestion, occured to me when fiddling around:
OR function support for Find Tracks? =)
As in, find songs with 'Green' OR 'Blue' on their artist/song names :D

Yea, why not :).

[edit]Hmm, now that I think of it, this would actually have little use; because the results are visible immediately, it's easy and fast to just search again for more results ::).
