1. Drag and drop capabilities :  not only drag files into xmplay but drag from library/playlist to other applications windows as well.

Hover mouse on track. Hold left button down. Click with right button. Drag and drop track where ever you want.

I have a suggestion for a new feature.
In today's ADD-infested climate, oftentimes you find yourself wanting to check something out without disrupting your original playlist.
So...

Ctrl+drag-'n'-drop a track onto XMPlay (or another modifier key combo, if that's desired):

1) Set a bookmark on the current track
2) queue the drag-'n'-dropped track
3) play it
4) delete it from the playlist or move it above the bookmarked track, or maybe it should be positioned there in 2)
5) load the bookmark and resume playing the track in 1)

Pressing "next track" would skip to step 4)
What say you?

A general-purpose scripting system would make this easier of course but yeah.

hi i would like to propose a small change:
the ignore filetypes box in playlist options is quite a good idea but
i think it would be more useful if it was a "add filetypes" box, because
it is easier to say "add mp3 wma ogg aac" (which after all is 5-6 formats) than ignore "m3u avi mpg jpg ++++" any other filetype (waaay more than 5-6) that may be in your music folders

XMPlay should already have such a filter, because isn't able to play jpeg etc. (unless some plugin messes up and says it can play them), and you can ignore playlists when adding a folder. And you really don't want to type all the extensions supported by several mod-plugins...

I totally agree with that...... maybe XMPlay already has a way to do that and we don't know

yes it won't play a jpeg file BUT i will add it to the playlist...unless you've typed the extension in the ignore box...but when there are various files in your mp3 folders it's not practical..that's why i've proposed this change so that files which are not media files WON'T be added to the playlist

There's already the option to verify files upon adding them to the playlist (Options & Stuff - Playlist - "Verify file content"). XMPlay will then check, whether the file is actually playable and won't add JPEGs to the playlist, for example. At least not when they don't contain any playable content.

• Stop after current track (has been requested before.)
• Have a setting to turn off confirmation for every track when doing "remove + Delete".  If I delete a bunch of tracks, I think it would be better to only have to confirm once, not for every file.

Hmm. Stop after current track: Disable Auto-advance.
Would do the trick, you'd just need to remember to enable it again next time you play. Unless of course you use hotkeys, you could add the Auto Advance toggle to your Play-shortcut but you could only use that one after pressing the "Stop after current track" (Disable A-a) hotkey. Bleh.

If the song has only half-played, why does that necessarily mean you're going to listen to the whole thing?

To me "played" means "completely played".

I kinda like this idea. I often change the track before it's completely played, for example when there are long fadeouts or build-downs, but I'd still like the tracks to be registered as played.

How about an option, with a slider to choose when the track should be counted as played?

It's a theoretical discussion as Ian is the one that decides whether and how to implement this. 

A slider would be nice , but any other way that delays the "play count" (and "last play") advance from the start of a file playback will do for me.

I think it'd be a bit risky having a single confirmation, particularly in the case of files inside archives (when it's the entire archive that's deleted). But here's an update with a "NoConfirmDelete" XMPLAY.INI setting, for those that want to live on the edge

A percentage setting wouldn't really work (ie. when the length is unknown), but the update above includes an option to delay the count by a number of seconds (or at the end if that comes first). Note that the delay timer starts once the track is opened, and continues to run down whether it's playing or not.

Increase playcount on a track which is being looped? As in, I loop a certain song 50 times (Hey! I really like that song!) and it's registered as one play.
Although it might spring up some questions on how it would handle looped modules and others, which might loop just one pattern or so. Maybe see if it's looped from beginning?

I asked for this previously, but I need it, really. Ian, please add a hidden option to cut the extension from the encoded file when using encoding function in XMPlay (like music.aac.ogg -> music.ogg)
