XMPlay crashes when loading a .IT file
« on: 12 Jun '03 - 17:14 »
<see subject>

When I load the file "Moors of Ireland.it" (uploaded to ftp://ftp.un4seen.com/incomming/Moors of Ireland.it), XMPlay crashes.

Error signature:
Code: [Select]

AppName: xmplay.exe
AppVer:  0.0.0.0 <note to Ian: where art thou version number? This is v2.7 but I don't know what build>
ModName: xmplay.exe
ModVer:  0.0.0.0
Offset:  0000c556

Technical Information:
Code: [Select]

Exception Information
Code: 0xc0000005        Flags: 0x00000000
Record: 0x0000000000000000      Address: 0x000000000040c556

System Information
Windows NT 5.1 Build 2600 <Windows XP Home>
<CPU information removed>

Module 1
xmplay.exe
Image Base: 0x00400000  Image Size: 0x00000000
Checksum: 0x00000000    Time Stamp: 0x3ec7cd19
Version Information
<a lot of zeros - a build number would probably be useful>

<other modules and memory dump removed>

There is more information (stack, registers and full memory dump for every thread) but it would be a pain typing it all out thanks to a stupid fake text box >:(

Anyway, hope this is enough to help you sort this out. If the MOD is corrupt then say so (I've had a few corrupt downloads recently). Thanks.

Ian clued me into a file called drwtsn.log that can usually be found "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson" Last crash is at the bottom I think. :)

Also, pressing Ctrl+C will copy the text of most error messages, as far as I remember.  But they have to be MB_ICONSTOP, I think...

I don't have it in either 2K or XP...  *confused*  And it's not like my computer doesn't crash, either...

Found ti, but the crash information is so big that I can't fit it in one post here. Ian, you'll find it as "Moors of Ireland.it.txt" in the usual place.

Ctrl+C will not copy the stuff in the "fake text box" that you get on XP by telling it to tell you what it's sending, and then telling it to tell you the technical info. PS: that file came from your site Oleg, as I had problems finding it elsewhere. If it doesn't crash XMPlay for you, then my download must be corrupt.

Turns out the file in question was corrupt - it's 99 bytes smaller than the original and where those lost bytes have gone I don't know. My best guess is something's missing in the middle and XMPlay isn't coping with it.

By the way, anyone know where I can get "Whistler's Bride" from (it's the second part of the "Feadanaigh Epic" - "Wind on the Moors"/"Moors of Ireland" is the first and "Carra's Lament" is the third)?

Thanks. I don't believe that was listed by Google.

No prob :).

The site is listed by google, in fact. I used just "whistler's bride" (with quotation marks) as a search term. It was the only good result though.

You're right, it is listed :-[, but I skipped it as it looked like nonsense from the description (it could at least keep some of the table formatting)

Sorry `bout that, my server was acting up b/c it was being hacked etc. I still don't get why it wouldn't let ANYONE download files for half an hour.  I would get Apache, but this is not a professional server, and I really don't care much.

For more song info, you should try e-mailing warder@dlc.fi (I think), 'cause he did write all those songs...  I've e-mailed him before, so he's responsive from at least one of the addresses.

But right now, I think you can download songs without fearing corruption.  :)

It worked the second time round, so I must have just been unlucky. The rest that were downloaded at the same time are fine.
