XMPlay caused an invalid page . . .
« on: 23 Feb '03 - 23:31 »
. . . fault in module KERNEL32.  I hit "close" and the program seems to work ok.

Anyone seen this before or know what may cause it?

Thanks, Dex

I've gotten this message quite a few times in the past...  I can't say I know what causes it, though. :-/

If you get an error dialog on loading XMPlay, but it continues to run fine, then it's probably a plugin that is crashing... try removing them one by one, until you find the culprit.

Hey Ian, actually, I don't have any plug-ins, but I did discover this: I unloaded all my "tray" stuff, then reloaded it, and the problem seems to have gone away.  There seems to be some Windows "issue" with the way systray stuff is loaded.

Who knows . . . :-)

From what I gather the winamp plugins play nice, and so do all the sonique plugins, except that is... Rappa. Providing however it is setup correctly it should be fine. If you get any errors with files from the support site, please tell me about them and I'll see what can be done.

Just wanted to update this: upgraded from 2.6 to 2.7 and still get the same "crash". Did a clean install, no plug-ins installed.  get this error.

XMPLAY caused an invalid page fault in

Then XMPlay seems to work ok. Hope this can be fixed. makes me nervous!   ;)

It's hard to tell what caused that crash - it's in a system module, and the stack doesn't show any addresses that would be in XMPLAY.EXE.

I presume "clean install" means the XMPlay files all alone in a directory of their own (including no sub-directories with stuff either). If so, and it's still crashing, you could see if deleting the XMPWMA.DLL file helps, and also deleting the XMPlay registry entry...
