MOD bug in v2.7
« on: 18 Jun '03 - 23:23 »
Hye,

First off, thank you for making such a great player! World really needs something to fight against Winamp :) But my real problem is in this: i've downloaded a MOD music module from http://www.mirsoft.info/gamemods-archive.php?selection=83 . It's a "Settlers, The" archive that is of importance this time. When i try to listen to a song called "02 - Ingame.MOD" i... really don't think that it's music that is playing :) It's even more interesting, that earlier versions of XMPlay play this same module just fine. Changing settings (like MOD playback mode, interpolation or ramping) does nothing to solve this either (don't know if it should :) . My apologies in advance if this bug has been fixed already.

Additionally, one more... "feature" i get from time to time :) The "Open" dialog sometimes "shrinks" itself. Here's a screenshot of what i get - http://galileo.spaceports.com/~malcolm3/files/open.png . This might be because i'm using Windows 95 (OSR 2 PE) on one of my pcs (it also happened 2 or 3 times on Win98 during a period of somewhat 4-5 months, but that is pretty rare for sure. No problems on XP). I know that Win95 is pretty old and (probably) unsupported by XMPlay, so it's probably not worth looking into either :) Just telling what i get, not a request to fix :)

Also, one more tiny question: would it be possible to avoid showing the font warning ("this skin uses a font that you do not have...") after changing the skin (and at every startup of the player :) or at least not to show it during start-up? That is again connected with Win95, so probably not worth fixing :)

That will be all for now.

Good luck,
Balek

Code: [Select]

*** Additional info ***
I made some changes to Ingame tune, to be properly played
under PC players (original version has been slowed down after 10 minutes of play)

Now don't tell me you want to listen to some "improved" MODs. I suggest getting the real thing here: http://exotica.fix.no/tunes/unexotica/games/Settlers_The.html.
However this VBlank MOD (mod.siedler ii) sounds a bit strange...

Have a look at this thread:

Might well be the same thing.

By the way, Balek, your picture link seems to be dead..

Re: Open dialog

I had the same problem semi-randomly in Win95a:

I have a different problem with the Open File dialog in Win95A. When I open a file from the main window (the 'eject' button), the layout is messed up with the internet stuff underneath the normal buttons. However, this problem is only with the "open file" button, not the "add file" button (the + sign in the playist window). Any ideas, or is it just a MS bug?

Yep, I think it probably is the same problem Kynes mentioned... it's fine again in the latest (in-development) version :)

I will probably add an option to disable the font warning dialogs.
