ASIO rev. 7 - bug [RESOLVED]
« on: 15 Feb '13 - 20:42 »
Windows 7 SP1
Echo Audio Indigo DJx - Latest Driver Rev. 8.5
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\ASIO Echo PCI\

Update told me new version was out. Decided to give it a shot. Loaded it into my 3.7 release. Was unable to see any ASIO devices on my system in the Output tab or ASIO control panel. Also, WASAPI started to have stuttering issues, strangely enough. Thought it may have to do with the program revision. Downloaded the newest (3.7.0.22) out of Stuff dir on website. Still no change. Even cleared out the INI section pertaining to ASIO and reloaded the program. Restarted the computer. No change. Luckily, the support site still has the old ASIO rev. 6 available. Grabbed it and replaced into dir with same program revision (3.7.0.22). Back in working condition again.

Thanks.

Let me know if you need me to give anything a shot.  8)

I'll send you a debug version to find out what's going wrong.

Not the same issue for me but still ASIO related. Lately I noticed some weird slow downs/distorted sound when CPU is under load.
For example during CPU intensive tests in Windows Experience Indexing. Don't get this with Directsound output.
Tried 3.7 and 3.7.0.18 and ASIO rev6/rev7. I am too on Win7 SP1 (64-bit). What could it be?

It could be that the ASIO output buffers aren't being updated quickly enough due to a lack of CPU time. Does increasing the buffer size in the "Output" options page help? Also, do you have the "Always use preferred driver buffer size" option enabled in the ASIO options page, and does toggling that help? To see if it may be something specific to the ASIO driver, is ASIO output from other software affected by the CPU intensive stuff too?

Issue resolved by Ian. Ended up being a problem due to the driver manufacturer reporting only the driver name in the registry and not the full resolution path to the 32-bit DLL located in System32.

Thanks again Ian for the swift response times!  :o :)

My findings:

Does increasing the buffer size in the "Output" options page help?

No.

Have it ticked and toggling does not help.

I tried ASIO4ALL (default settings) and there's no problem with that.

ASIO4All is a driver.
I tried ASIO4ALL (default settings) and there's no problem with that.
ASIO4All is just a different ASIO driver, I think Ian wanted you to try using another software and test if the same ASIO driver would cause the same problems there.

Ah ok.

I tried Foobar with ASIO output and indeed the same problem.
Edit: to hell with ASIO. I'll just use WASAPI or even DS.

Thanks guys.

In WinXP, I definitely prefer ASIO (using ASIO2KS driver).  :)

It's only natural to prefer ASIO over something that doesn't exist on XP, right? ;D
