Bit prefect 32 bit output support
« on: 25 Jun '22 - 13:29 »
Hello, I have Rme adi-2 dac that comes with bit test files for testing the digital chain, XMPlay fails 32 bit output in wasapi exclusive mode, 24 and 16 bit pass the test without issues, other players like Media Player Classic BE pass 32 bit test just fine. Are my settings wrong or does XMPlay not support 32 bit output?

All sample data is converted to 32-bit floating-point in XMPlay, which can bit-perfectly preserve up to 24-bit integer data. So it will indeed be unable to bit-perfectly preserve 32-bit integer data.

It would be cool if 32 bit perfect output capability could be added in future versions. Thanks for explanation.
