Ian @ un4seen

Here's an update that extends the "%USERPROFILE%" support (in playlists) to tool and encoder command-lines:

   www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exe

Taking your example, %USERPROFILE% would be "C:\Users\secretusername", so you could use "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\ocenaudio\ocenaudio.exe".

I'm curious - does my tool still work? I haven't looked at it since 2018...

Ian @ un4seen

It looks to me like it should still work, but there are a few new skinconfig options that would need scaling: pos_infotrack, pos_onoff, pos_onoffinfo. Also, these options don't need to be scaled: pos_leftdown, pos_rightdown.

Brilliant update, thanks so much for your hard work. Finally, we have dark mode, absolutely fabulous! :)

Lovely player, lovely developer, lovely, helpful community, lovely plugins, skins and everything.

I love how quick and responsive, in fact lightning fast, this player is. Also, MODs and SIDs always sounded the best in XMPlay, no contest.

Been meaning to mention, could there be an option to show the current track title in the active window's title? I don't know if that's possible to do.

Something like how you can use the MSN now playing plugin for a similar purpose.

I use XMPlay all the time, listening to new and old tunes, and I have to keep switching to it to see what's playing.

So for example in the top of the current window it would look something like this:

Total Commander 11.0 --- 4mat's madness

I know I can scroll the song title in the taskbar, which is lovely, but I'd prefer to have it in the window title also, if possible. :)

Ian @ un4seen

Great to hear that you're enjoying XMPlay :)

Regarding your request, if I understand correctly, you want XMPlay to change the title of other apps to include the current track's title? While that's probably technically possible, I think such a thing would generally be frowned upon and perhaps even break things - have you seen any other apps do similar? If you would like to always have the current track title on screen, perhaps you could keep XMPlay "on top" (set in the "Interface" options) and docked to the top or bottom of the screen? The default skin doesn't have an especially small "mini mode" but there are some skins that basically only show the title. For example, here are a few:

   http://support.xmplay.com/files_view.php?file_id=536
   http://support.xmplay.com/files_view.php?file_id=546
   http://support.xmplay.com/files_view.php?file_id=558

If you happen to keep XMPlay minimized in the tray, then another option is to set a "Current track - Tray title bubble" global shortcut key (in the "Shortcuts" options) and press that key whenever you want to see the title.

Thanks heaps for the suggestions.

Regarding your question if I've seen a similar function in other apps, ages ago, there was a Winamp 2 plugin that could do this (in/with Winamp), called 'bluecave winamp slider'. It had tons of other useful functions as well. I remember that sadly this plugin didn't work with XMPlay, I tried it back in the day, something like 20 years ago. :)

I've just tried what you suggested, the "Current track - Tray title bubble", but for some reason it doesn't do anything for me. I tried quite a few different hotkeys, plus ticked 'global'. I have several other hotkeys set up that work beautifully. So it shouldn't be a problem.

In options-interface, I have 'show info bubbles' ticked and 'show in' dropdown is set to tray. Also, in options-titles, I have 'tray title bubbles' ticked. Not sure why the assigned hotkey is not doing anything for me. I'm on Win7 Ultimate if that means anything.

Did you also minimize XMPlay? If not, please try that, as tray title bubbles are only shown when minimized. A track also needs to be playing at the time.

Btw, if you generally prefer to keep XMPlay in the taskbar instead of the tray, you can minimize to tray when needed by right-clicking the minimize button without setting the "show in" option to "tray".

Cheers for that useful tip.

Yes the player was minimised and a track was playing during my scientific experiments. :)

I'm baffled as to what's going on with this tray bubble function. Bubbles work in/from other apps no problem, so it's not like it's diabled system wide somehow.

Ian @ un4seen

Here's a little update for you to try, in which XMPlay just needs to be in the tray and not in focus (it doesn't have to be minimized) for tray title bubbles to be shown:

   www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exe

If you still don't see them, please try renaming your XMPLAY.INI file to reset the config (and then put XMPlay back in the tray) and see if that makes a difference. Also check if they're shown when the track changes (without using the shortcut key).

Thanks ever so much, will try that and report back. :)

The parameter "Count as Played after x secs" no longer has any influence on the library since version 4. Every song from my Internet radio playlist appears immediately as "last play: now".

Registered specifically to submit this bug. See attached - since 4.0 my favorite skin ("HeavyDuty" by Tero Niemi, 2007) has been bugging out sometimes where the side panel when kept closed hides the main area.

The library window's "last play" column does always show "now" for the current track, but the stored value shouldn't change until after the "Count as played after x secs" period. If you close the track before then, you should see its old "last play" value again. Do you not?

I haven't been able to reproduce that so far. Are there any particular steps to make it happen? Please also confirm what Windows version you're using.

Unfortunately, this no longer works. Every radio station, no matter how briefly it was played, immediately receives a new entry in the "last play" column. This still worked until version 3.8.5. Also "now" only appeared after x seconds in version 3.8.5.

I've tried all the above, sadly 4.0.0.6 still doesn't do it for me. Not even after renaming the .ini and resetting the config. Also no difference when the tracks change.

That's strange, I'm not seeing a difference on this matter between XMPlay 3.8.5 and 4 here. In both cases, "now" appears immediately in the library's "last play" column when opening a track, and the original value reappears if the track is closed before the "Count as played after x secs" period. If you haven't already done so, please try the latest build, just in case the problem is something that's already been fixed:

   www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exe

If the problem persists, is it only affecting radio station streams (not local files), and if so, can you give an example affected URL to check? Also confirm your "Count as played after x secs" setting.

Do you at least see the XMPlay icon in the system tray when you set it there? Please also confirm where you have the taskbar and tray positioned on the screen, in case that's making a difference.

Yes the icon is shown in the system tray as soon as I set it, no problem.

Both the taskbar and systray are positioned in their default location, the tray at the bottom on the left, and the systray at the bottom on the right.

Ian @ un4seen

The title bubbles should appear just above the systray in the bottom-right of the screen in that case. To check if they're being covered by something else, please try minimizing everything so that only the desktop is showing. If you still don't see them, do you see title bubbles in fullscreen visualization mode? They'll be larger and near the middle of the screen then.

Yes I always tested it everything minimised, sadly no luck.

Regarding the other bit, oddly enough, I can confirm that the title bubble shows upon hotkey trigger in fullscreen visualization mode. Only in fullscreen though.

It's in the middle of the screen, in larger font.

Ian @ un4seen

OK, so the shortcut key and fullscreen title bubbles are working, but not the system tray title bubbles for some reason. I may need to send you a debug version to get more info on that. First, just to be sure, please confirm that the shortcut key is global ("global" is shown next to it in the shortcuts list) and that the "Tray title bubbles" option is enabled in the "Titles" options page.

Yes the shortcut is global and the tray title option is set.

Ian @ un4seen

I've sent you an email (to the address in your forum profile) regarding a debug XMPlay version. If you don't see it, please also check your junk/spam folder.

Is there a way to display the bit depth in WAV or WavPack?

Ian @ un4seen

Yes, that info is shown in the general info window's "Resolution" field.
