LAME Tag
« on: 9 May '03 - 13:34 »
Hello!

I have visited http://gabriel.mp3-tech.org/mp3infotag.html in order to find out more about the LAME tag an encountered my first problem: is the LAME version saved as "LAME3.92a" or as "LAME3.92 (alpha)" for example? Unfortunately, I don't have any beta/alpha versions of the encoder and therefore can't test how the LAME identifier looks like.

LAME3.94a in the Lame tag and at the end of the mp3 file: LAME3.94 (alpha)

Dibrom's Lame versions 3.90.2 and 3.90.3 are listed as LAME3.90. which doesn't help to identify them, however the complete version number is written at the end of the mp3 file

i'd suggest to check both the end of the file and the tag (eg. incomplete downloads) for the version number

get those Lame versions at http://rarewares.hydrogenaudio.org/mp3.php

Thanks for the information! I was also wondering wich "special builds" exist - only beta and alpha? What about the pre-releases? What is the string for them?
