Font in skins
« on: 14 Apr '05 - 04:13 »
I use chinese.
I found the font in all the skin I downloaded(.xmpskin) are too small to see the text clearly. I can't read the playlist when use Exile,Shades,Pager skins.
Later,I downloaded the source of the skins(Silk) and modified the skinconfig.txt.But if the font is large enough, the lines in the playlist can't fit the text, they are too narrow. Also, not every skin I like have the source to download.
How can I do?
BTW,I really like XMplayer, and use it from v2.8 to 3.2.05.

i can imagine chinese characters are hard to read at that size :-\. you could try to make your own skin, one that fits your needs, or try to find someone who will do it for you.

Can I?
I tried to change the fontsize in the skinconfig.txt file from 10 to 12,but the rows in playlist seem to narrow to fit the fonts.
How can I sovle this? Is it the bmp picture size in the skin source?
What about other CJK user?

For most skins just changing the font would work, but for Silk or other skins that have the playlist attached to the main window it won't.

I can modify Silk to show correctly if you like?

The line height is unfortunately not bound to font size. If you want to change it yourself, It is defined, as you say, in the skin .bmps. mask_list.bmp to be exact.

Thanks to all !
I've doubled the mask lines in the mask_list.bmp,the text look fine!
But not all the skins I like have source to download. They're made into .xpmskin format. How can I unpack this format? And how can I pack the skin I modified into this format again?
Also,I couldn't download the plugin XMPlaySecret(http://uk.geocities.com/the_boggyb/xmplay/xmplaysecret.html) and XMPlaySkin(http://uk.geocities.com/the_boggyb/xmplay/xmplayskin.html),could someone do me a favor to send a copy to me:xofyarg@126.com

Unfortunately, you can't. The most you can do is to 1) check to see if the sources are on the XMPlay Support Page 2) contact the skin author and beg. Only Ian can create .xmpskin packages.

This is why I want skins to be able to use external skinconfig.txt files, though that wouldn't help in the case of playlist text height (I propose that to be a skinconfig.txt setting as well).

That's odd. Any error message or anything like that?

I see. Most of us just wanna change the font,I think. Can it be a part of the player itself, not in the skinconfig.txt(if use external skinconfig.txt, the skin isn't compact)?
